  • I have an old xp hard drive that i was needing some stuff off of. I put in a tower and it said i needed to get a confirmation id so when i called it said my copy of windows was fake. what can i do

  • It sounds like you booted to the old installation rather than to your normal OS - which means that you need to change the boot order so that you boot to the normal one before the old drive.

    You should then be able to view the data on the old drive from the newer one.

  • Consider acquiring an external hard drive enclosure so you can browse to the data you would like to retrieve.
