I'm moving your post to the off-topic forum since this forum is for the subscription version of OneCare that does not include Registry scanning. Personally, I wish that they would remove the functionality of the registry scanner/cleaner for exactly the reason
you highlight. There is no good reason to use one unless you know exactly what you are looking for and what is being done.
