Don't let OneCare registry clean delete the key: HKCR\Wow6432Node\ on Win7 Ultimate RRS feed

  • Doing a tuneup registry clean scan on Win7 Ultimate results in the entry: "HKCR\Wow6432Node" as listed to be cleaned. Uncheck this registry entry. When OneCare attempts to delete the key, and error results and some of Win7 Ultimate GUI becomes unreactive. A restore point gets you back to operational. How do you like that, the maintenance app writen specifically for the product breaks it. No wonder Microsoft stock has been flat for 10 years.

  • I'm moving your post to the off-topic forum since this forum is for the subscription version of OneCare that does not include Registry scanning. Personally, I wish that they would remove the functionality of the registry scanner/cleaner for exactly the reason you highlight. There is no good reason to use one unless you know exactly what you are looking for and what is being done.
