Windows Explorer crashes when creating new folder pair RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have used Windows SyncToy in the past in different jobs and companies.  However, I am running into a strange problem.  I have recently installed SyncToy 2.0 on my PC and attempted to create a new folder pair.  I am trying to sync a network folder with a external hard drive mapped as a network drive.

When I click the Browse button, it opens and I select either the mapped external hard drive or the network folder.  When I attempt to select a folder, Windows Explorer crashes.  I have to use Task Manager to restart my PC.

I have never run into this problem before and I do not know how to fix it.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled SyncToy repeatedly, deleting the SyncToy folder, etc., all to no avail.

I would appreciate any help that you can give me.

  • Could you try to browse the folder with Windows explorer, from the OS directly and see whether the same problem happens?

Also, Please try to type the path of the network folder in the folder pair creation and see whether syncToy works.
