  • The reality is that many corporations have migrated to Server 2008, and some are even switching to or considering Server 2012.

  • Hi,

If you can finish MCSA 2003 then you can try to upgrade to  MCITP: Server Administrator  as soon as possible, once you have MCITP: Sever Administrator then will also get the new MCSA: Server 2008 certification. After that you can upgrade to MCSA:: Server 2012 with exam 70-417

The required upgrade exams to upgrade and the MCSA 2003 certification will all retire on 31 July 2013 so you need to hurry to pass all the required exams if you want to use the upgrade path.  Without the upgrade path the MCSA: Server 2012 certification will require three exams (70-410,70-411,70-412)

From MCSA: Server 2012 you can achieve the new MCSE: Server Infrastructure certification by passing two additional exams (70-413,70-414)

Upgrade your Windows Server 2003 certification

    Current certification

    Certification goal

    Required exam

Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator on Windows Server 2003

    MCSA: Windows Server 2008

    and

    MCITP: Server Administrator

    and

  • Danny Van Dam  Thanks for your replay

your answer gave me information, suppose if i stop taking mcse 2003 exam and if i take MCITP server administrator(3 papers)  exams.

in that case what will happen to my MCP ID, can i use same id or need to create different id

  • You should use your current MCP ID when book the exams for MCITP, the upgrade requires that all your Microsoft exams and certification that you have achieved will be listed under one MCP ID.

I have created a Wiki today on upgrading from MCSA/MCSE 2003 to MCSA Server 2012: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/16483.upgrade-from-mcsamcse-2003-to-mcsa-server-2012.aspx
