New WHS server -- copying backups from old server RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've been using a home-made WHS box for about a year and just got an OEM WHS box.  I've copied my user folders from one machine to the other, but I would like to copy the backups WHS made, and have those available in the backups applet of the server console.

Can someone show me the light?

  • Do the following steps make sense?

    1. net stop PDL
    2. net stop WHSBackup
    3. Copy from old machine to the new machine  D:\folders\{00008086-058D-4C89-AB57-A7F909A47AB4}.
    4. net start WHSBackup
    5. net start PDL

You can backup the backup database by either following the instructions in the Home Computer Backup and Restore Technical Brief, or by using the BDBB add-in.

  • That is, in essence, what the technical brief kariya21 linked tells you to do, and it's what the BDBB add-in does. So yes, I'd say it makes sense.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
