ICE has problem with stitching blank regions in a structured panorama RRS feed

  • Question

  • Using an SEM (scanning electron microscope) to take stage automated images of samples. When taking a backscattered electron image (BSE) the background is black, using a zig zag software for images collection tags the images by number. ICE will import the images fine and the preview will look as it should, but when the final image composition is stitched together, some images that are blank (i.e., have no features in that region) either are left out or are skewed, resulting in a final image that is not in a rectangular shape. I am using planar motion 1 with either a 30% search radius or sometimes a 50% search radius. Any suggestions or upgrades to resolve this problem? Using ICE 1.4.4 version. Thanks

  • Do you mean 'preview' in the structured panorama dialog or 'preview' in the ICE main window?

It is odd that the full resolution output would look different from the main window preview.  ICE does not re-run the alignment step between preview and export.  So, the positions of the images should not change.  What can change though are the seam locations between the images.
