  • Hi,

According to your description, my understanding is that Dashboard.exe crashes on WHS 2011.

Try to open the Dashboard.exe in Save Mode:
    Start – All Programs – Windows Home Server 2011 – Dashboard(Safe Mode).

This will be helpful for identify the problems about Add-ins. If the crashing problem does not happen in Safe Mode, try to enable Add-ins one by one to have a further identification.

Besides, you may try repairing the .Net Framework by uninstalling and reinstalling it. Blog “.NET Framework Cleanup Tool User’s Guide” can be considered as a reference for the detail steps:
    https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/astebner/2008/08/28/net-framework-cleanup-tool-users-guide/

Note: remember to back up important data/system state before any change, it would be helpful for restoration if there is any problem after the changing.

If the problem persists, please provide me the details of above events you have mentioned about “.NET error” and “crash of the exe”, such as “Log Name”, “Source” and “Event ID”.

    Best Regards,
    Eve Wang

  • thx for your answer.

You are right, Dashboard.exe crashs on my WHS2011.
It makes no difference if ill start it directly on the server or on any client.

I have tried to start it in Safe Mode, but the issue still happens.
On my WHS2011 i have no additional addins, just the default "User" & "Start" addin.
Also when ill deactivate them, the issue is not solved :-(

Could it be that the issue comes from corrupted user/config data?
The following line says CRC error:

    Dashboard.Forms: System.IO.IOException: Datenfehler (CRC-Prüfung)

If yes, how can i identify the file which has CRC error?

Or should i'll try to reinstall .NET framework?

    thx
    Tobias

  • Update:

I'll think my 2 months old Samsung 850 Pro SSD is dying :-(
Got the following erros from Samsung Magican:

    • Uncorrectable error count - FAIL
    • ECC Error Rate - FAIL

Also HD Tune reports a bad block @581MB.
Luckily i have weekly system backups, will restore a backup tomorrow to an new SSD and report back.
