Error Code 0x80040509 Can't Install SP3 RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • After several crashes with the installed software on the new PC, I bought an OEM copy and did a clean install.  The software was validated as Genuine; but if I need some other type of license to install SP3 how do I go about it & who do I pay?

Starting a new thread on this, as recommended in:

  • From your MGA Report:

    Windows License Type: Volume
    Windows OS version: 5.1.2600.2.00010300.2.0.hom

Unfortunately, it appears the "OEM" copy you installed is a counterfeit copy of Windows XP.  Its a hodge-podge compilation of Windows XP Home edition and a Volume license version.  Nothing can be done to fix it.  Contact the seller and demand a full refund.
