  • Hello xpwhat,

Occasionally posters will post here telling us that their longtime installations of Office XP, and less often Office 2003, suddenly begin to report that they are not genuine and that they cannot make up their minds if they are activated or not.  Usually this is the result of a corrupted Office license file.

Please work thru the Methods in this MS KB article:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903275

Many people tell us that running the MS FixIt in Method 2 does the trick.

After running the FixIt, restart, open an Office program such as Word, and activate online if necessary.  Close Word and restart.  Then visit www.microsoft.com/genuine and click on the Validate Office button.  After validation, open Word and other Office programs to check to make sure you no longer see the nongenuine notices.

Post back to let us know if it worked for you :-)
