  • You can install OneCare and activate with the same subscription LiveID on up to 3 computers and none of them need to be configured as a hub PC.

  • Hi, Ken.
It's actually quite simple. I believe that the steps are outlined at http://onecare.live.com on the members page, but here goes:

    1. Download and install OneCare on the 2nd PC from http://onecare.live.com (install the trial)
    2. When the PC reboots and OneCare starts, click subscribe in OneCare
    3. When prompted to log in, sign in with the *same* LiveID that you used to activate/subscribe on the first PC. (on the 1st PC, open OneCare anc click on Help/About OneCare... to see the subscription ID, that is the LiveID to use)
    4. Your subscription will be validated and the new install will be linked to your subscription.
    5. Repeat for the 3rd PC, if you have another.

These would be the same steps to follow for a reinstall of OneCare.

  • sounds simple but I installed the trial on my second computer. I attempted to log on with thhe same id I used on the original set up. It says that id is not associated with live one and request I set up an account so I went along... it wanted the pruduct key so I re entered it and it says it's already activated and wont let me continue. I am able to log onto live and check mail etc but wont let me add a computer. I only have one activated (original).  Getting frustrated here. Can anyone assist ?

  • Go back to the first PC and confirm the LiveID you are trying to use on the 2nd PC is correct.
Open OneCare, click on Help/About to see the subscription ID. That is your LiveID for the subscription.
You can also confirm the LiveID by signing in at https://billing.microsoft.com to see the subscription for OneCare. If you don't see a OneCare entry or it reports "no Billing account" for that LiveID, then that isn't your subscription LiveID.

  • Additional information:

If the activation dialog already contains a LiveID from a prior attempt or one used in trial mode, but this is not the one you need to activate with to associate it with your subscription, see this post for how to reset this - http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/onecareinstallandactivate/thread/f5ce50e4-9165-40a5-891b-fe5d0659738b
