  • Ebon,

As I mentioned uninstall the software from the computer. Next restart the computer and reinstall Microsoft Office XP Small Business from the software disc provided @ the time of purchase. This should alleviate what you are experiencing.

Do you still have all the recovery software media and driver discs? Recovery Media is specific to your computer manufacturer. Contact your manufacturer to assist with your request and/or questions. Since the telephone number and websites are not maintained by Microsoft we cannot make any warranty as to their validity.

  • Hello Ebon,

There are situations which can cause Microsoft Office to become non-genuine. Let me give one example.  Customers have taken in their systems for service along with all the software received when purchasing their system. The customer picks up the system and viola' no problems whatsoever until they need to download an update or even a template used with an Office Suite. Suddenly their system is non-genuine. The customer's computer was not installed with their software but either a blocked Volume Licensing Key (VLK) or a Keygen’d Product Key. Also the software could work for several weeks, months, or even a year or more then suddenly become blocked.

Where did you purchase Microsoft Office XP Small Business which is currently installed on your system?

    Thank you Ebon,

    Stephen

  • It came preloaded on a Dell Desk computer (not portable) that was purchsed a number of years ago and has not been serviced lately.

  • Ebon,

You said it has not been serviced lately but the computer was serviced. My next question is where was the computer serviced? Was it serviced by an authorized Dell Service Center? Did you purchase the Office Suite or was did it come preinstalled? If Office was preinstalled this would have been a trial version which was preinstalled by the manufacturer allowing you as the customer an option to test drive Office prior making a decision for purchase.

Ebon if you purchased Microsoft Office and had Dell pre-install it on your computer @ the time of purchase then I would uninstall it and use your original Office Suite disc and reinstall it. This should resolve your problem.

    Take care,

    Stephen :-)

Office Status "Not Activated" not means that "Office is not genuine".
However in that status it can work only 60 days.
You say "It has been installed for many years" - and it still works? - Great!!! :D
    I think You have cracked mso.dll ;)
You have to restore this file from the original media and activate Your Product.
