How do I cancel my OneCare subscription? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've used it for only about a week and I don't like it at all.  Trying to find the information on how to cancel has been futile.  Using the OneCare help/support links do not help at all.  I keep getting error messages telling me to try again later.

I really don't like this "service" AT ALL.

Does anyone know how to cancel OneCare and whether or not I can obtain at least a partial refund for the service cancellation?

  • Within 30 days of online purchase you are entitled to a full refund (in the US, at least) by contacting support to cancel the subscription.

How to reach support (FAQ) - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2421771&SiteID=2

If that fails to work for you with the error you are encountering, unofficial path - send me an email at sboots@mvps.org with a subject line including "OneCare" (to get past my spam filtering) and in the message body, tell me what country you are in, your forum nickname, and paste a link to the post to which you are replying. I am not online 24x7, so you may be waiting for a reply, but I'll do my best to hook you up with support.

  • You're welcome. If you purchased OneCare at retail, from Sony, and have a retail package, the refund process is different. In North America, go here:

  • Thank you for your very quick and helpful response.  I have finally found the phone number to call to cancel OneCare.  I believe now that the reason I kept getting that error message when trying to contact Support is because I wasn't entering the Subject line topic correctly.

I also appreciate the info regarding a refund.  I purchased and paid for OneCare when I ordered my new notebook from Sony.  How would that affect my refund?  I guess I'll find out when I call OneCare Support to cancel.
