  • Hello Zalewski,

You have attempted to install a Dell OEM SLP license for Windows XP Pro onto a Gateway GT5468 computer.

This is a violation of the End User Licensing Agreement.  The fact that you cannot activate is not a problem---it is the Windows Product Activation System doing its job.

If the Gateway computer has a Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) for Windows affixed to it, it is very likely that the Gateway is still licensed to run the version and edition of Windows listed on the CoA.  The best way to get this licensed copy of Windows onto your Gateway is to use the Recovery Solution provided by Gateway for this computer.  If you do not have this solution in hand, then please contact Gateway tech support or customer service to order a set of recovery discs for this specific model of Gateway.

Here is a link to start the request:  http://support.gateway.com/s/software/medialess/faq/suppage01su44.shtml

If discs are not available from Gateway, here is another source to try:  www.restoredisks.com
