loaded xp home from daughters new notebook into dell inspiron 1300 with usb ports not working RRS feed

  • the inspiron now starts up and puts up a message asking to register with microsoft yes or no click yes and nothing only the screen saver .i cant start it or anything else. can anybody help

  • In the thread title, it says something about loading XP from one computer to another? Is that correct? If so, is the XP a Retail copy or did it come pre-installed on the original computer?

    You also say that it asks you to Register. Do you mean Activate.  You then says all you get a Screan Saver. I don't understand, if you can't log in how are you getting a screen saver?

    Would you provide a more detailed description of the issue? 
    Also, if you are able to login to the computer, please download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool (MGADiag.exe) at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Continue", click the "Copy" button then “Paste” the report into a reply message in this thread.
