Free subscription RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've ordered 1.5 dsl through Qwest. By doing this, my subscription to windows live onecare is suppose to be free.

However; I am also a subscriber to windows live onecare. My subscription to windows live onecare (bought) will run out next month. How can I download and activate my "free" subscription to live onecare that comes through my Qwest package? I have uninstalled one care and re-installed but it still shows my credit card as the only way to renew.

Thanks for any comments or suggestions.

  • You will need to cancel your current paid subscription.

How to reach support (FAQ) - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2421771&SiteID=2

Let the Customer Service representative know that you're a new Qwest customer and eligible for a "free" subscription.   Your cancelled account may be subject to a 30-90 day "waiting" period before it can be used with the Qwest subscription.  (Not sure if this policy is still in place!)  You may need to establish a new account.

Here's a link to the Quest/Windows Live Member Center:  http://kai03.qwest.com/WindowsLive/Default.aspx?page=Default

    Hope this helps.

  • Jennifer is correct that you will need to cancel the paid subscription before renewal.

Once you've cancelled, go ahead and uninstall OneCare and reinstall from the Qwest download page and use the LiveID for your Qwest subscription - which should be different from the one your current subscription is under - to activate. The Qwest page explains how to activate for your free subscription.
