    For some reason, your OS is unable even to see the SLIC table that should be present in your BIOS.
    You need to change the Product Key to the one on your COA sticker, using the Change Product Key link at the bottom of the System properties page – you may then have to activate by phone.

     1. Click on the Start button and in the Start Search box type in:  slui.exe 4

     2. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.

     3. Select your Country.

     4. Follow the instructions for phone activation (no charge).

     Note:  Use the Windows 7 Home Premium OEM 25-character product key that is printed on the COA label (Certificate of Authenticity) that is affixed to your computer.

  • My method works just as well.  If activation fails, the user will be instructed to hold and then speak to a Microsoft activation specialist who will ask for the COA product key and then provide an activation code.
