Error when trying to start remote app "gateway server temporarily unavailable" RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

When connecting to my WHS 2011 server, and clicking on a client, or the server itself, The Remote Desktop Client  / Remote App client starts. After 2 seconds, the following error appears:

"Your computer can't connect to the remote computer because the Remote Desktop Gateway server is temporarily unavailable. Try reconnecting later or contact your network administrator for assistance.

Port 443 is redirected to the WHS by the router (which is clear becaus the https://xxxxx.homeserver.com/remote website is reachable.

How can I troubleshoot this issue?

  • Hi Stephan, to start troubleshooting the issue, I suggest you check the following link:

  • The Common known issues do not fit in my situation. The error is the same, but in the guide, there is a solution for Windows XP clients. I observe the issue on (different) Windows 7 clients.

  • Anyone an idea? Otherwise I'll reinstall my homeserver environment.
