How to use "Use Native Digits" in Region & Language setting in Control Panel for Number Format

    Question

  • Hi,

I have tried changing the settings of "Use Native Digits" under Number Format in Region & Language in Control Panel but i am not able to figure out the changes that happens.

For National, the numeric values comes as whatever is selected in Standard digits combo.

But for Context and Never, it comes in 1234. Why does in  Never option i get digits in native language depending on the input keyboard.

Can you explain what is the meaning and functionality of these 3 options and where can i see the effect of its changes. if possible an example of it would be helpful.

    Thanks

  • I have seen these responses continue in an endless loop. I have looked all over FAQ's, forums etc.  Can someone just simply explain the functionality of "Use native digits:" explaining the difference between Context, National and Never?  It baffles me there are professionals on here forwarding this to forums and the like instead of simply answering what seems to be a straightforward question?

FYI, there is nothing in the forums, and whatever link you want to provide as an answer to this question will undoubtedly only land back to the Microsoft home page.  Example of useless response below:

    Microsoft Reply:

In order to better explain the function of that setting, may we know what you are trying to use it for?

    Looking forward to your response.

  • This is "where is" forum for direction on where best to ask questions. I'd ask for help over here for help with windows.

also note these are peer level support forums so if you need immediate help or want to speak with microsoft directly then I'd start a support incident here.
