Microsoft Office Genuine Advantage Pop-up says my copy of Microsoft Office is not genuine RRS feed

  • Question

  • I ran the Microsoft Office Genuine Advantage Diagnostic and it shows that my program is genuine, but I still get the pop-up saying that my copy of Microsoft office is not genuine.  The pop-up says that in 14 days Office Applications will be marked as not genuine.  How does that impact my computer?  I bought this computer with Microsoft Office installed several months ago, I don't understand why I am now receiving this message.  I started receiving this message last week.
    Below is the copy of my diagnostic:

  • Hello 5x3y,

    Here is a snippet of your mgadiag report:

    OGA Data-->
    Office Status: 103 Blocked VLK
    Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 - 103 Blocked VLK

    OGA Version: Registered, 2.0.48.0
    Signed By: Microsoft
    Office Diagnostics: 025D1FF3-364-80041010_025D1FF3-229-80041010_025D1FF3-230-1_025D1FF3-517-80040154_025D1FF3-237-80040154_025D1FF3-238-2_025D1FF3-244-80070002_025D1FF3-258-3

    As you can see, Office Enterprise 2007 is showing as being installed with a Blocked Volume Licensing Key.

    Blocked VLK means that the product key used to install license was a genuine product key originally issued to a business, educational, or government entity.  However, the key has been blocked from further use, and that could be for many reasons: it was leaked, lost, or stolen from the entity; the entity no longer has a valid VL agreement in effect with Microsoft; or Microsoft has noticed much more use of the key that the agreement allows for.

    If your use of the key is in conjunction with a business, educational, or governmental entity, please contact your IT deaprtment for further information.

    If you are an individual consumer and purchased this copy of Office Enterprise from a seller, then you should not have been sold Office Enterprise and should certainly not have been given this key by the seller.  HP does not preinstall Volume Licenses of Office on computers intended for consumer sale, so if this installation of Office was already on the computer when you received it, it's likely you purchased the computer from an intermediate seller or distributor or perhaps used.  Somewhere in that chain of custody this nongenuine installation of Office was installed.  If this is a used computer, the installation of Office could have been installed by the computer's original owner, which might have been a larger entity.

    Your options at this point include returning to the seller to demand the genuine Microsoft Office that you paid for; to return the software to the seller for a refund; or to participate in the Office Genuine Offer as described in the FAQ here:  http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/FAQ.aspx?displaylang=en#ID0EKNAC

    Hopefully the information provided can help you resolve the situation with a minimum of hassle and expense.
