Web Component Validation error; expected Live Communication behavior RRS feed

  • Question

  •

The validation for my Web Components fails with 401-unauthorized errors for all the internal and external URLS.  Problem is, everything works fine.  This is an upgrade to production, and I didn't have these errors on my RC install.  Any ideas?  Certs are fine, and anonymous access is enabled on the default website.

Also, what is the expected behavior for live meeting?  If I have COmmunicator fired up when I launch the LM client, it uses my COmmuncator signing name, and when it goes to connect to the conference, it prompts for a username and pwd.  If I use the same login as Communicator, I am allowed in.  If I remove the signin name, it prompts for a conferenece user name, and lets me enter.  Is this the way LM is supposed to behave?  Thanks.

  • For your first question, can you post the validation html log file?  That might give some clues as to why it's not working.

As for your Live Meeting question, that is expected behavior unless you've set the meeting to use anonymous access.  To do this, click the Access buton in the Outlook meeting request and set it to Outlook.  The other two options (open authenticated and closed authenticated) will require you to login to access the meeting.

  • let me restate the question as it is kinf of confusing:

I have created a LM conference with anon access enabled.

If I take out all sign in information from the LM client, it will let me into the meeting anonymously.

If there is signin information in the LM client (whether installed manually or grabbed from the Communicator client signin), I get prompted for a username/pwd.

here is the log from the validation...I am sure the issue is here.

Ok, I got the error sfor the internal pool url to go away by doing the WORKAROUN, not the resoultion as there are two app pools on the server:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/871179/

But I would still expect that Live meeting would not prompt me for a user/pwd if I was signed to communicator, but I could be wrong.

  • That would explain it.  Thanks for sharing the resolution.

  • Hello Arby,

I am also getting the same error message. The validation for my Web Components fails with 401-unauthorized errors. In fact when I try to browse https://pool1.testing.local/ABS or https://pool1.testing.local/GroupExpansion I got the same error message:

If you believe you should be able to view this directory or page, please try to contact the Web site by using any e-mail address or phone number that may be listed on the pool1.testing.local home page.

You can click  Search to look for information on the Internet.

    HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden
    Internet Explorer

I followed the same link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/871179/ which you mentioned in your last post. I followed both Workaround and the Resolution Section but still getting the same error message.

Let me know if I am missing something.

    Thanks,

  • Same issue as the last poster. What needs tweaked? I jsut installed Enterprise consolidated, and am going to continue setup, but my web components validation is showing the same as above.
