How to hide a custom activity type in CRM 2013 RRS feed

  • Hi,

    We have a CRM system with multiple activity types, some are geared towards our sales teams and some towards our service teams.

    Is it possible to restrict where those activity types appear in CRM?  I.e., we don't want sales users to be able to open up troubleshooting activities?

    I found this blog which was focused on CRM 4 and 2011.  I don't think it is valid in 2013 but am wondering if there is a supported model in CRM 2013 that would enable us to do something like this?  Either through the administration and/or with code.
