White Labeling CRM Online? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
I've mostly seen enterprises trying to use CRM online for managing their CRM needs in the cloud. However are there any ISVs trying to offer services in the cloud on top of CRM online as a platform? (e.g. Lets say an ISV wants to provide "bug management in the cloud" as a service, would they be able to use CRM online to build on top of? Can CRM online support in essense sub-letting to more specialized services?) As a corollary this would require another web services API that provides a way to create/delete organizations etc.
    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Vivek

  • Hi Vivek,

I have not seen any ISV out there providing solution like that using CRM Online. But if the solution doens't require code deploy to the server and just use the out of box CRM functionality, it's definitely doable since CRM is so flexible.  But stay tune, more exciting things to come next year for CRM Online for sure. It will open up a lot of doors for ISVs to develop in the cloud.

  • Vivek,
Most companies that utilize CRM as a service platform, which is known as xRM development, use it in their own hosted model with CRM Partner Hosted Edition. In reality, these organizations are using the CRM platform to create their own managed "cloud" (if you want to use the term loosely). This gives partners and ISV's the ability to create and manage their own solutions, and the provisioning of such solutions to their customer base extremely efficiently. The reason they use the Partner Hosted edition of CRM (which is the same as On-Premise) is because it comes with the Deployment Manager, a tool that allows you to create multiple CRM installations on the same CRM server farm. More sophisticated partner implementations will actually use Microsoft's Hosting and Collaboration software to build-out instances on-the-fly with the "Deployment Services Platform" which allows for instantaneous creation of CRM instances without the need for human interactions (ie: customer buys an instances on the web, it is automatically set-up, provisioned, customized, etc.)

What Darren is referring to is that the CRM Online Cloud will open up later on for cloud based operations, but it is highly unlikely that Partners and other ISV's will be able to use the CRM Online Provisioning tools from their own web sites etc... so I would recommend you use CRM Partner Hosted edition to do your ISV solution.

  • Thanks.
While I agree that Partner Hosted would be the most flexible given what CRM Online supports today, it does put a burden of hosting/cloud management on the ISV (substantial capex in case that is not the main business for that ISV).
If CRM online exposes such functionality though their web apis it would get all such ISVs on board and really push the xRM in the cloud concept much further.

  • True, but I dont foresee that happening. What we see now is that ISV's with solutions to build are looking to specialized Partners (like Triventure www.crmontarget.com) to host their solutions on an already existing platform with built-in tools for provisioning already enabled. I would call them and see what they can offer you and your company to get you started.
