I'm having a really weird issue. I have installed Vail Preview 3 different times on 2 different machines. Each time, all is going great for the first 24 hours. I get my data moved to the drives, get everything setup, and once setup, I install
the connectors on my PCs. Everything is working like a dream. Video is streamed, shares are working great, etc. Then after the initial 24 hours, the shares are not accessible from my PCs even though they were accessible from them earlier.
I can do an NSLOOKUP on the server name and it is returned correctly. I can Remote Desktop into the server using the server name and it works perfect. I can get to the dashboard from the same PCs. The only thing I can't do is access the shares.
Just in case it matters, I have the following running on this server as well:
1) Teamspeak 3 Server
2) Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.4
3) This last setup, I installed DNS and DHCP to run from the server as well to see if this may fix it - no go!
My network setup - Uverse connected to Netgear WNDR3700 Wireless router (also tried a DLINK 655 router). The server and all PCs connect directly to the WNDR3700 router. The server is connected via gigabit cabled connection.
So, to sum it up, everything is working after install, configuration, and patching. Then approximately 24 hours later, the shares stop working, everything else continues to function.
I am fairly versed in Windows 2008 R2 Servers and have been running servers for a very long time. I have turned off any firewall type programs on the PC side. I have looked in the server side firewall to see if there were any glaring issues there.
I have uninstalled the connector and reinstalled it again.
I'm not even sure what to try at this point. Debating on giving up on Vail. I love the new look and had been using WHS v1 for years. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Kevin
