Circle problem - 2 hubs - not recognizing computers RRS feed

  • When we set up a computer using the same Live ID we are able to make a computer a "Hub," but when setting up a 2nd computer we are able to make it a "Hub" also without any sign that the other computer is already a hub.


    When we choose to not make a computer a hub it does not show that it recognizes an existing circle at all. At no time have we seen that another computer was the hub even when we have previously identified it as a hub.


    We might think it was not setting up a circle at all, except when we make both computers a "Hub" the each computer diplays itself as teh hub and displays the other computer as part of the circle and gives a "last contact" date and time (and gives us the option of removing the other computer from the circle).


    Another "clue" is that when we try to "Refresh" for printer sharing it says the other computer was not found and that it might not be on or connected (but we do have them both on and connected).


    All this makes us think there is some problem with setting up the hub in the first place.

  • All computers on your subscription - that is, the same LiveID - are part of the Circle. Any number of these computers can be designated as the hub and there is no indication on the hub that another PC is also acting as the hub. This is normal.

    As for the printer sharing refresh, if the computers are running disparate OS levels - that is 32 bit vs. 64 bit - Printer Sharing via OneCare will not be possible. Also, if Printer Sharing is disabled on either PC, it will also report that the computer isn't found.
