Media Player stopped playing Videos RRS feed

  • Question

  • Don't have much hope of getting any answer as I see lots of posts on this and no answer to any of them although they are over a year old, but here goes.

My Media Player was working perfectly and playing all the audio and video files. Suddenly the Video files won't play any more and there is an error message "WMP has stopped working..." and clicking OK just closes WMP. Audio mp3 files are playing fine. The video message appears with any kind of video file.

I cannot even find where to look to see which version I have. Can one uninstall WMP and re-install it? And if so where can I find the file to install WMP?

    Windows 7 Family Premium, version 6.1.7601, SP1
