Launchpad throws event 1000 category 100 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I upgraded my laptop to Windows 10 Anniversary update.  As with all windows upgrades I had to uninstall and reinstall the connector software.  The installation seems to have gone fine and I can run the dashboard from the computer but the Launchpad and backup no longer work.  I have uninstall and reinstalled the connector software a couple time, installed all updates, run the normal check disk and maintenance tasks. The computer has rebooted several times since this started.

I did some search but can't find a solution that fits the problem.

Thanks in advance for any help,

    John

  • Hi,

    >The SFC did not find anything but Launchpad works on another account.
It seems that the use profile is broken/corrupt/etc.

I would recommend you to use this new account, give it the admin permission, and manually transfer data from to old user account to the new one via dopy data under User folder which is located at system drive.

  • Hi,

According to your description, my understanding is that Launchpad and backup does not longer work after installing Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

I want to confirm with you that if this problem only happened on specific Windows 10 client which has Anniversary Update installed?

If so, on the problematic client, run “sfc /scannow” to check/repair system files.

Besides, try to build a new account, check to see if same problem will also happen when using this new account.

    Best Regards,
    Eve Wang

  • Thanks for the response.

The SFC did not find anything but Launchpad works on another account.

Any suggestions on how to get it to work on the first account?

    Regards,

  • Had the same issue.
I could fix it without deleting the whole profile.

It just started from one day to the other, don't remember when it started and if I changed something before.

    Solution:

    - Open the following folder C:\Users\[yourusername]\AppData\Local\Microsoft_Corporation

    - In here was a folder named Launchpad.exe_StrongName_[random characters]

    - Rename this folder

    - Start Launchpad software again

For me it started to work again after this little change. It interestingly didn't recreate this folder.

  • OH MY GOD!!! For a whole week I was scouring the web looking for an answer to this same issue but just with another program.  This worked like a charm!!!!  Thank you sooooo much!  The only difference is that I found my program folder after Local instead of Microsoft Corp.  This was a nightmare!  Thanks again.

  • Thanks Patrick, that fixed the issue I was seeing for one user. Like Anthony it was a 3rd party app, but with a folder in \AppData\Local\, same event log errors as above, but no errors from the app instead it just silently failed to open.
