An unexpected error occurred while converting supplied report to CRM format. RRS feed

  • Question

  • i have created a report in SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio. the report uses a shared dataset and a shared datasource. the report itself is SQL based, but the shared datasource is FetchXML based.

additionally the report also takes 3 parameters and some of these parameters have default values. the report works perfectly in the preview pane. when i go to Dynamics CRM 2011 | Add new report and then browse to the .rdl i get the following error:

An unexpected error occurred while converting supplied report to Microsoft Dynamics CRM report format.

    The log file contains:

Unhandled Exception: System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[[Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk.OrganizationServiceFault, Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk, Version=5.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35]]: An unexpected error occurred while converting supplied report to CRM format.Detail:

    any help/tips/advice appreciated.

    thanks.

seems that you CANNOT uses shared datasets nor shared datasources. if i remove these from the rdl and use localised (to the report) versions i can then link to these reports in CRM without any errors.
