Alarm Problems with my T-mobile Shadow RRS feed

  • Question

  •

I just recently bought a T-mobile Shadow. It runs WM6. For some reason when I set an alarm on the device it never turns off. I can dismiss it for the day. But at the same time tomorrow the alarm will go off again, regardless of whether or not the setting is on or off. I have tried everything short of having it exorcised(priests are expensive). Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop this?

  • Please do a hard reset and don't use your alarms until T-mobile comes out with a fix.

In the mean time you can schedule an agenda appointment with a reminder as your alarm.

  • Go to Start->Settings->System Tab->Clock & Alarms->Alarms tab->and make sure all boxes are un-checked.

  •  The only option that i have is to set the time. And whether or not i want it weekdays, everyday, or off. This is in a list format, not with check boxes.

  • I see, you have the non touch screen edition.

    Go Start->System settings->Clock & Alarm->Alarm-> alarm to Off.

The alarm should be off at that point.

  • I have a T-Mobile Dash with WM6 and have the same problem. Every morning at 9AM the alarm goes off. The alarm is turned OFF under the settings--> Clock & Alarm --> Alarm section. This is quite annoying. Only solution is to turn the alarm sound off. Not very beneficial.

  • Try to activate the alarm again at a different time and later turn it off again.

    Maybe that will work

  • WOMP WOMP.. Now it does it at both times of day. I turned the alarm sound off so it makes no noise, but the alarm still pops up on the phone. I wonder if the only way to get rid of these is to hard reset the device. If ne 1 has any other ideas im  open to sugestions.

  • Wow...you are cloning your bug.

I would back-up your PIM if you can and do a hard reset now.

  • Jimbo,

Thanks for your input. I am glad it is just related to the t-mobile rom's. So if you were at the CES you must picked up a great Windows Mobile hat at their booth

  • Based on Jimbo's reply JermShadow, I would Hard Reset the device to eliminate the alarm issue and not use the alarms until there is a fix from T-Mobile .....very strange issue and I am somewhat baffled at why it is a T-Mo issue.  I can't imagine that they woud play with the alram setting ... but you never know.

  • I have the same problem.  I didn't realize what was happening but I have turned the alarm on and off several times for 7am and gues what, now my alarm is going off 3 times at 7am, about 2 seconds before one another.  I currently have an mp3 for my alarm sound and it is over a minute long so now I hear all three going at once, just time shifted by a couple seconds.  Sounds weird and I have to "dismiss" the alarm 3 times.  Oh, I then have the alarm go off again at 7:02am.  Uh, did I mention it goes off at 6am and 6:30am too.  But on my Shadow I can turn it "off" and it stays off.  If I turn it on, either "Weekdays" or "Everyday" then it will go off at each and every time I have "ever" set the alarm!  I am surprised they didn't catch this problem before releasing it.  And I can't wait for the solution either!

  • I have the same issue. 3 alarms that go off at different times that I can not shut off. I called T-mobile today and to test a fix they instructed me to set my alarm to go off in 2 minutes.  They obviously don't understand that I would then have 4 alarms going off. I would prefer not to hard reset but will if problem not solved soon.

Will we be alerted through this thread when the problem is resolved?

  • i'm another one. i have a tmobile shadow with WM6 and it has the same problem. unfortunately, i set an alarm to midnight and now it won't go away. i've since downloaded a freeware app for alarms - Schedy Mobile. it's alright, much better than WM, but has a strange feature where the alarm keeps going off for about 10 seconds after pressing snooze. doesn't make sense, so i'm looking for a better alarm app.

  • Ok I have found the solution thanks to a combination of info from this forum. I peformed the following steps and am glad to report I have had no more alarm issues with multiple alarms that won't turn off! Here are the steps:

    1. Down load and install the SKtools lite.

    2. Run an application called Auto Clean! (part of the installation and shows up in your start menu after voice notes)

    3. Go to Clock & Alarm settings and select Date and Time

    4. Disable Automatic Time/Time Zone

    5. Select Done

    6. Select Alarm and turn Alarm to off.

    7. Run the Auto Clean! application one more time.

    8. Use the phone normally

Once I did this I was able to turn the alarm off and on at a time of my choosing!

I hope this helps you guys! Good Luck.

  • Hey i found a solution but it is in spanish i had my mexican friend to help me out with here it is

  • I had the same problem:  Alarms that I had set with Start>Settings>Clock&Alarm were remaining active, even after I had disabled the alarms.  There were multiple "orphaned" alarms that were more or less continuously ringing.

There were really 2 parts to the problem. First, The noise was terrible. I could not figure out how to turn off the alarm sound, and I could not find or see the Dismiss button for the alarm.

Second, even if I could dismiss the Alarm for today, there was no way to remove the Alarm permanently. This is because of the orphaned entries in the Notification Queue.

For #1, It occurred to me that the user interface for the Dismiss button was not being displayed for some reason, though the Alarm application seemed to be working correctly in all other ways.  If I could only get that UI to display itself, I'd be able to dismiss the app.  That would solve the first problem.

I tried using a task manager app (Start>Task Manager) to switch to the task that displayed the Dismiss UI, but somehow I couldn't get that to work.  Every time I used Task Manager, I saw no task for the Alarm in the list.

But, another third-party task manager DID show the task.  Celetask.
    http://www.efficasoft.com/celetask/help.html

Celetask has a hotkey capability; when I hold a designated key (J), Celetask opens without using Start>Celetask.  In this way, I was able to see the Dismiss task, and switch to it, and just click the dismiss button.  Problem #1 was solved.

Then I tried SKTools to eliminate the duplicates and clean out the Notification Queue list.  I'm still working on this part.  I found that I had 5593 entries in the Notification Queue.  Not sure if that's a high number or not.

    I hope this helps someone.

  • ps: I meant to add:  The Undismissable Alarm problem is not specific to HTC or T-Mobile or any device or carrier.  It is a Windows Mobile problem.
