Cant install defrag tool RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there

Really like steady state but having a problem here with policy.

Before installing steady state, I only had one default user on my pc. after installing, I did not add any additional users in steady state. Everything worked fine so far. Now wanted to install a defrag tool (diskeeper) but get the message that this installations is not allowed by Admin. Tried to start in safe mode and login with the Administrator account steady state created, but getting the same message here.

Where can I edit the policy so that I can install Diskeeper?

    Thanks :-)

Hi ggerri, I'd like to inform you that this should be a by design issue. We have confirmed that many defrag applications may affect the usage of Windows Disk Protection. Because WDP cache file is very sensitive to the physical layout of the hard drive and drive defragment may damage the cache file. If we use WDP, even the built-in defrag function will be disabled by policy. In order to avoid this kind of issue, several third party defrag or disk tools cannot be installed on the system. Thank you for your understanding.
