Changing Windows product key with different version (Ultimate) for Windows 7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a different version (non-Ultimate version) installed on my laptop and I have purchased Windows 7 Ultimate software recently and I want to change my Windows 7 to Ultimate without re-installing everything as I have lot of other softwares installed and I dont want to spend time in installing those again. Would I be able to do this by simply changing the product key? Please help. Thank you.

  • You may be able to use the Anytime Upgrade procedure for this purpose, depending on the type of license you purchased.

If your new license is an MSDNAA one, however, I believe it requires a clean install.
