The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized with custom entity RRS feed

  • I was able to create a new Account and Contacts in CRM 4.0 but when I add a new custom entity I am getting "The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized " error message. What could be the problem? I have system administrator role in CRM 4.0. Please let me know.

  • While other CRM components are operating normally, it isn't likely that the cause of an HTTP 401 error is inbuilt CRM functionality.

    Do you have a plugin registered on the creation of your custom entity?  If so, the failed authentication is likely to have been triggered by it.
