Question

I have installed Live OneCare on two computers but one does not have the "Set this computer as the hub" option and it is the one that should be the hub. Not sure how to remedy this problem. Please help.

Did you install the trial and "register" with a LiveID to get the additional functionality or is this a subscription and both copies have been activated with the same LiveID? If you don't activate or register, you will not have any Circle functionality available. If you did activate/register, you should have a line item in the main OneCare interface that says "Manage your One Care Circle" in the left of the window, under your computer name. Clicking on this will change the window to show you a link to make the PC a hub in the second position.

THanks for your reply. Yes I have registered and have the "Manage Your One Care Circle" but when I clcik on then I do not have the ability to set this comupter as the hub. I am thinking that I should uninstall it then try again but I do not have any info on what exactly my subscription info is. I have the small window in the bottom that says when it is up but nothing else. I am confused whether it was under the live email address which is what I created or my gmail address. This is not a real user friendly system. There is not customer support that I can find...only these forums.

If you reinstall, you'll be cutting your trial period short, so avoid that for now. When you click on "Manage Your OneCare Circle" what exactly do you see there? What do you see on the other computer when you click on Manage Your OneCare Circle?

I have this same problem. When I click on "Manage your OneCare circle" I get two choices; "Add a computer to your OneCare circle" and "Rename this PC". Nothing about "Set this computer as the hub PC". How do you know if your PC is the hub? Just by the "Add a computer.." choice?Sunday, October 19, 2008 11:25 PM

If it is the only PC in your subscription, you probably won't get the option to make it a hub, but I can't recall what I had when I have installed and activated a single PC.
If it was already a hub, the page displayed for that PC would include the option to stop making this PC as a hub.
You will also not get an option to make the PC a hub if you have not activated (or logged in for the trial).
