Migration to R2 question RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello

I am doing side-by-side migration (2007 to 2007 R2).  It will take some time for me to migrate users and I wonder if I could run both servers at the same time.

Do I have to setup the same DNS records for the new pool as I have it setup for the old one?  Can I have to different DNS records?  For example, can I have 2 different sipinternal records?

Should I create the second server exectly the same way I created the first one?

Is there anything specific should be done to work when I have users on 2 different servers?

    Thank you.

  • That is the way to do a migration : Side by side
They will run simultaneously next to each other transparant to the users hosted on either server
You do not need to create another DNS SRV record (there can be only one) but you should point it to a pool that will also act as a Directory (or a separate directory if you require one)
You should change the SRV record to point to the new pool.
Pointing it to the new pool would be the best option as you won't forget to change it afterwards when the old pool has been removed
