Alerts back but also for starter posts in threads RRS feed

  • Question

  • I spotted this early on, but I waited until the entire backlog of Alerts had passed by before writing about it here.

Scenario: Read a new (to me) post. Typically then reply to it (sometimes not) and set an Alert on the thread.

I've already read that first post (otherwise how could I set the alert?) so I certainly do not need to be sent an E-mail telling me that that particular message has been posted in the thread.

Alerts for threads should start from the posts in the thread *that follow* the time when the Alert was set.

This is yet another of those cases where something has happened earlier; been corrected; and then re-appears when a fix to the software is done.

There are far too many such cases and most (like I think this one) have been repeated more than once.

  • Yes, this is a known bug. We're going to be looking into this. There shouldn't have been any change to how this is working, but probably happening more often with our outtage and re instatement of the services, there were hundreds of thousands of queued messages.

Now that it's all caught up we'll look into this root question send in alerts issue.
