Does PWA 2010 include ActiveX controls to launch in Project Pro 2007

Question

The issue I am having is that until today I have been unable to launch projects in MSP2007 from PWA2010. The option was always grayed out, and attempts to check out the global resulted in an error telling me to have project open and no dialog boxes, etc. After reading the KB article at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/818046 I decided it could be missing active X controls, and went about tracking down an equivalent of the Pjclient.cab and Pjcintl.cab on our instance of Server 2010. I cant seem to find them. Does MS assume that anyone connecting to PWA2010 with Proj2007 had originally connected to PWA2007 and gotten the activeX controls or something? I know the grids in 2010 dont use them, but they seem to be still needed to launch on client?
Unfortunately in my environment we never had server 2007 deployed, so no one will have the files. Further, I dont have much control on when we move to Project 2010 clients. I was able to find them on a VM of 2007 server, and we could go about deploying them throughout the organization, but I would rather avoid the paperwork of setting that up if PWA2010 is just misbehaving. If I do need to deploy them, is the best way to get the most up to date versions finding a VM of server 2007 sp3?
Anyway, we are on ie. 7.0.5730.13 so that could be another issue all together.
Project 2007 SP2(upgrading to SP3 is probably an option but again paperwork)
Project Server 2010, initial release(will but admin about putting latest version of that.)

Hi there,
To open / edit projects from the project center in Project Server 2010 PWA with Project Pro 2007 clients you will need the PWA 2007 ActiveX controls deployed to the client machines. Take these from a PS 2007 server, you can see more details on deploying ActiveX controls here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/818046 & http://blogs.msdn.com/b/project/archive/2007/05/03/howto-deploy-project-web-access-2007-activex-controls-via-sms.aspx
As Rene said, the best option would be to upgrade the Project clients to Project Professional 2010 :)

Hello IanAKAIan,
PWA 2010 supports Project Pro 2007 only in a migration context where you had PWA 2007 and then upgraded it to 2010. If so, the "Compatibility Mode" will be on until you can deploy Project Pro 2010 to all your clients. You cannot turn on Compatibility Mode in 2010 on a new install.
Also PWA 2010 does not include any ActiveX as you already know. They were a pain to manage and Microsoft gently decided to substitute them with JSGrid.
Best option is to upgrade your clients to use Project Pro 2010.
Best regards,
Rene Alvarez
