Trying to backup on a central external drive on another pc. RRS feed

    I cannot access an external drive from another pc on my network to backup to in OC.  It sees it, but on trying to access the drive, says I do not have permission to access the drive.  Any help out there?

    Also,

     

    give permissions to every one

    give both read and write permissions

     

    check from your explorer that you can create file in that share (try creating a new folder in the share)

     

    But, better thing is configure that centralized backup to that EXT HDD from the same machine where the HDD is attached, as it will take care of everything by single click! (or three clicks)

    Go to the computer the drive is attached to, open Computer, select properties, open the sharing tab and enable sharing and set permissions.  If you still are denied access create a new share on the drive and try again.
