Windows 7 not genuine 7601 a glitch? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I recently bought my compaq presario notebook PC at Walmart in Aug. of this year. I saw the message that my windows 7 build wasn't genuine 7601. I turned off the computer and took the battery off. Then I turned it back on and the message didn't show up anymore. The activation key number is there, and the has the genuine seal next to this number. I was wondering if this was just a glitch?

Quite possibly – have you changed the Security software since you purchased the machine? – if so, from what to what?

Please provide an MGADiag report – we should be able to tell if there’s anything amiss...

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
