My computer had this problem for about a month and i just lived with it but now I'm started to get annoyed. I had my PC for about a year without this issue. Ive been wanting to reformat my computer but I lost my vista disc and now it says my vista isn't valid. Am I stuck? I'm sure this has been asked many times before. Thanks to any help i get.

You appear to be running a version of Windows intended for an HP machine on your Gateway computer - this is a breach of the Licensing terms.

The best course for you is to restore the computer using Recovery Disks bought direct from Gateway - they are usually available for round $20-50 - although changing the key to the one on COA sticker on your machine may work.

How did your machine get into this state? - usually because you allowed a friend to 'fix' a problem by using their recovery disks, instead of your own. Sometimes a lazy computer shop will also do the same thing, despite the fact that they should know better.
