Audio Video dropping on Live Meeting from Internet RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are having a problem with the new R2 edition on Windows Server 2008 x64.  The problem is with A/V from the Internet when using Live Meeting client.  All Live Meeting users from the Internet are getting an error message after connecting "Your Audio and/or Video session was unexpectedly disconnected.  Action Required: Please rejoin audio and/or video."  Rejoining produces the same error.

We have checked our A/V authentication certificate and port is working.  We pass all validation tests.  When we use A/V in the MOC client with 2+ users (even if one or more connect from Internet), it works fine.
Live Meeting A/V works fine when both participants are on LAN or remote with VPN (No Edge server)

Our Edge server has 4 IP Addresses - one for internal, one for access edge, one for conference edge, and one for av edge.  I have opened ALL TCP and UDP ports on the firewall for the a/v edge interface.  We ARE using NAT - which according to documentation *IS* allowed now with R2:

Quote from Documentation:  "In any location with multiple Edge Servers deployed behind a load balancer, the external firewall cannot function as a network address translator (NAT). However, in a site with only a single Edge Server deployed, the external firewall can be configured as a NAT. "

Can anyone help suggest where to look or how to turn on tracing to find out what is going on?  We cannot pass validation without A/V in LiveMeeting.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Jim,

I'm getting the same thing. AV/Conferencing, UM etc.. work perfectly from Communicator externally but do not work from Livemeeting. Basically the setup is consolidated edge with (NAT tickbox enabled) an ISA server publishing rule (50,000-50,999, 3478, 443).

    It fails with the following...

  • We are running R2 and facing exactly the same problem A/V works fine from "Office Communicator" but it rarely works from Live Meeting and most of the time we get this error when we try to enable A/V in LM:

  • Anyone solved this issue?. I have encountered the same problem. Communicator R2 is working externally and internally without any problems. I also can share application, desktop, whiteboard externally in Live Meeting 2007, but audio and video is working internally only.

  • I have a similar problem, although I am using OCS 2007 *not R2*. My users have this happen intermittantly and sporadically.

  • My sure that on your internal OCS2007 pool in the A/V Conferencing properties you have the A/V Edge server listed in "Select the A/V Authentication Service internal FQDN and port used for A/V Authentication"  If you setup the A/V Edge server correctly, it will be in the drop down list with port 5062 indicated (if you went with the default auth port).

  • We are seeing the same issue, but only on one of the two Edge Servers.  Last night we tested the 'hot spare' Edge server and were able to run video calls via Communicator, but not through Live Meeting.

  • Hey there.  I was having the exact same issue where the Communicator Client audio and Video was working from the internal network as well as from the internet.  However when running audio and video from a Live Meeting client it would only work on the internal network.  In my case we have only one OCS 2007 R2 edge Server so enabling NAT is what fixed it for me:

On the OCS 2007 R2 Edge server, open the "Properties" window then select the "Edge Interfaces" tab.  From here select the "Configure" button in the "A/V Edge Server" section.  You will then see an option to enable NAT for the "A/V Edge Server" role = "External IP Address is translated by NAT".   This fixed it for me, hopefully will work for you to.

    Regards
    Dan
