  • A BIG Thanks Mate.

GOOD News My server is UP.

    THanks for your guidance/support/ideas/help.....

    All i did was

    1. Back Up- Org_MSCRM and MSCRM_Config and RDL's
    2. Un-install CRM Server Via Control Panel
    3. Install the CRM Server , selected Connect to Existing Deployment during installation, when it is prompted me to select between new deployment or existing deployment.

That is it,once crm installation is over, server got restarted, i found my organisations and server in deployment manager in enabled status(when error 17410 came server was in disabled status) and Aschronous service started and CRM is up.

Note:  i did'nt do any restoring of SQL database nor Import Organisation.

    Once Again, thanks very much

  • Hi Great Beliver,

I actually already read and follow the instruction but my problem still not resolved.. Please assists

    "Hi Gagndeep,

It looks like their are some things going on so let's take a methodical approach to resolve them.

If you have more than one server in the environment (CRM, SQL, Application server, etc), then reboot each of them and not just one.

If you have recently loaded any customization, plug-ins etc. on the server, please temporarily remove them.

Once the servers are rebooted, check the async service to see if it is running. Be sure the service is set to automatic. If the async service is not running then ensure IIS is running. If IIS is running then open your Deployment Manager on the server.  Ensure your Organization is enabled in the Deployment Manager.  I've seen this behavior when Organizations somehow become disabled.  If you Organization is enabled, please check the Application log (event viewer) and provide a copy of any errors.

Also, ensure the server has all the lastest OS updates by going to the Microsoft Update site.   Not just CRM updates, but OS and Office updates.  Get the server completely up to date and do the reboots as recommended when updating."

  • Have you reciently applied a rollup.  Typically this issue is related to a corruption in the GAC

    2. Downloaded this version of Rollup Installation package from the net
    3. Extracted the content of the installation package (I used mscab.exe for this)
    4. Replaced the microsoft.crm.dll in GAC with the one that was extracted in step 3.

This can be done using gacutil.exe or by simply replacing the dll in the path (in 32bit version of windows) C:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_32\Microsoft.Crm\4.0.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35\microsoft.crm.dll using command prompt or directly opening in explorer (Start/Run) the following folder "C:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_32\Microsoft.Crm\4.0.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35" then copy/paste the dll.

    Thanks

    Hi Pierre,

What is GAC?? where can i get it? can u guide me in detail?

    FYI i just update my CRM 4.0 Rollup (KB953586) --> http://www.mskbarticles.com/index.php?kb=953586/ & http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953586

Beside im also update my Win Server 2008 (64bit)

But still cannot start the Microsoft CRM Asynchronous Processing Service. Even though i restart the server and reset IIS.

OR is better for me to run "Repair" ?? IF yes then wut happen to my previous customization?? Please assists.

  • Doing a CRM system "Repair" has done the trick in many cases.

Also, i beleive that doing a repair for a CRM installation simply re-installs the program files and has No effect on the databases or customizations (which is now a part of database)

But, think twice before you do so...

  • Hi kvk01,

FYI there are no direct solution for this. But i able to manage the issue by reinstall again my CRM 4.0, but u need to backup 1st your CRM database.

After that re-install your CRM 4.0 and Run your CRM Deployment Tool. Finally update your CRM Rollup accordingly from 1 until 13. It solved my problem.

  • Thanks ! Mr.Cosmic for your help.

I discussed with Microsoft also, they are giving the same solution what you suggested.

I  have few customization done at opportunity and account entities, how do i import the same.

Since crm is not working, i am not able to import via customization import wizard. kindly suggest me some ways to do it

i am using : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/952934 for  Redeploy the Microsoft Dynamics CRM deployment that includes the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server within the same domain or to another domain since i have everything on single box.

And also suggest me following flow is correct for re-install

    1) back up MSCRM_config and organisation_MSCRM and RDL files if any reports are customized

    2) un install the CRM server

    3) Re-install the crm Server, in the wizard

                               a) Specify deployment option , do i need to select Create new deployment or connect to an existing deployment , kindly advise

                               b) Do i need to create a website for this deployment, kindly advise

    4) thru deployment manager , import organisation ,by pointing into the org_MSCRM

The server i am working on is the production server, already it was used by CRM users via internet, do  i need to do any run procedure for making this available in internet,or once i do the reinstall and import organisation(via deoplyment manager) it works fine.

Expecting your help on this, thanks thanks in advance

  • Hi kvk01,

"I  have few customization done at opportunity and account entities, how do i import the same.

Since crm is not working, i am not able to import via customization import wizard. kindly suggest me some ways to do it"

My Answer : Yes i face the same issue as you, and based on my experience once you backup your CRM database then all customization will store together. Don't Worry

    1) back up MSCRM_config and organisation_MSCRM and RDL files if any reports are customized

My Answer : Yes, u neeed to backup Organisation_MSCRM and RDL. But for MSCRM_Config im not sure, i think we don't need to backup this because when we re-install, the application itself will create for us a new MSCRM_Config. But to play safe, just did a backup for everything.

    2) uninstall the CRM server

My Answer : Yes then u need to clear all application pool / site at IIS Manager. Makesure everything is clear then restart your server. Oh! and also delete MSCRM folder at your Program Files and CRM User Group at AD . Our objective is to make a clean installation. Please follow this link

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946980

    3) Re-install the crm Server, in the wizard

                               a) Specify deployment option , do i need to select Create new deployment or connect to an existing deployment , kindly advise

My Answer : "Create new Deployment"

                               b) Do i need to create a website for this deployment, kindly advise

My Answer : As i said the objective is clean installation, yes u need to create "website" from the CRM wizard

    4) thru deployment manager , import organisation ,by pointing into the org_MSCRM

My Answer : Yes u need to import organisation, for CRM profesional edition we only can have 1 organization, but for enterprise you can have more. Check 1st your CRM version/edition. But before run the deployment manager, restore your old database 1st. Refer to my post:

    http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/crm/thread/7866f899-4bfa-4208-8199-81fd3ba11ad3/#5990895f-6c54-46c2-9b56-f54826dea4e3

    5) The server i am working on is the production server, already it was used by CRM users via internet, do  i need to do any run procedure for making this available in internet,or once i do the reinstall and import organisation(via deoplyment manager) it works fine.

My Answer : This process required downtime. So since we are install from a clean installation, i think yes.

  • Thanks for your quick reponse, your reply gives lot of confidence in me for reinstallation .

for your reply to question 2 uninstall the CRM server:

I have one final query, in AD we have users (about 40 users) already,

    1) Do i need to delete users and CRM user group in AD ( i want existing users to access crm once i do the

reinstallation, dont  want to  create users in AD and in CRM) kindly advise.

I hope once reinstallation is done all existing users will be available in AD and in CRM with correct Business units and security roles. Pls Confirm
Thanks once again for all the guidance.

  • Most Welcome,

I'm also learn from test and error.

    1) Do i need to delete users and CRM user group in AD ( i want existing users to access crm once i do the

reinstallation, dont  want to  create users in AD and in CRM) kindly advise.

My Answer : No need to delete user in AD. Just delete the following security groups:

    • PrivReportingGroup
    • PrivUserGroup
    • ReportingGroup
    • SQLAccessGroup
    • UserGroup

After re-install, it will create again.. :)

Later on CRM Deployement it will ask you to do a mapping with user in AD. cheers~
