My copy of Windows Vista Ultimate downloaded from MSDN suddenly doesn't work anymore. Can anyone offer me advice on how to fix this? I am running it under Virtual Server. The diagnostic data follows.
Thanks, Claude

Did you obtain a product key for Windows Vista Ultimate from the MSDN subscriber web site?Tuesday, December 26, 2006 4:38 PMModerator

Yes, I did. I believe it was

Claude:
Can you verify that was the key assigned to you via the MSDN service?

Yes, I went to the MSDN download area and verified the Product Key. The one I'm trying to use is exactly the same. When I initially built this Vista VM, I activated it and did the Genuine Advantage process with no problems. I have not used the VM for a couple of weeks, but today I was wanting to use Office 12 and Sharepoint Designer to work with a new MOSS 2007 server. I started getting the "Your Windows is not genuine" message just about as soon as I got logged in, and have been getting it every few minutes for the rest of the day. Aero is complaining that it can't load. But... Vista "seems" to be working OK, at least as far as I can tell. I loaded Sharepoint Designer, and it seems to be working. ??? Why would Windows be Genuine in the past, and now it's not. I have been mounting various ISO images to the Virtual Server CD/DVD. Would that be considered a hardware change? This is a Virtual Server VM, so there really isn't any hardware to change.Tuesday, December 26, 2006 8:42 PM

I'm having the same problem: my MSDN Windows Vista Ultimate is no longer genuine. Visiting the aforementioned website and clicking on Validate gives me an error: "The validation service is unable to determine whether this copy of Windows Vista is genuine." I checked the key at the MSDN site, it is correct.
Here´s the MGADiag.exe output:
