OCS Enterprise Ed Consolidated option scalability RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello All,

I am about to install OCS Enterprise Ed (consolidated), and I am wondering is it possible to expand in the future and break out the
variuos components web conferencing, a/v services to separate servers and use a load balancer in front of it all ?

  • Do you want to deploy OCS 2007 R2?
Then you should only deploy Consolidated ENT Servers as this is the best option in the R2 release

I believe the real question here is: If you deploy a single consolidated OCS 2k7 Enterprise server, can you later on break out the roles onto seperate servers (no longer consolidated).  I believe the answer is yes, but not 100% certain (we are running a single consolidated enterprise server at the moment).

  • Yes, you can install additional Enterprise Edition Front-End servers and move separate the roles out.  One example would be to leave the Front-End services on the original server but then activate new servers for conferencing and media roles, deactivating those roles on the original server.
