Pre installed Office 2007 with an product key that doesn't work RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have brought a new PC and have been told it comes with Office 2007 pre installed. I've been able to use it a handful of times but and now getting the message that I have to add the product key in to be able to use it. I've tried the key that's on the side of the unit which is digit perfect but it's apparently not the correct one!

    What's the next step?

    Many Thanks

  • Hello Mum2mooandlou,

Computer manufacturers often install a trial version of Microsoft Office.  If you are getting a prompt to type in a Product Key when opening a Microsoft Office program, it is likely the trial period is over and you'll need to purchase a license (product key) for Microsoft Office.

The product key affixed to your computer is for Windows Vista (the operating system) and not for Microsoft Office.

If your computer was supposed to come with a Full version of Office, please see the documentation that came with the computer for the Office Product Key or contact the Seller or Manufacturer of the PC for assistance in locating the Product Key.
