  • Hi,

Charles is correct that this forum is for training and certification related question.

But, I may be able to help.

If you do not like the basic colors of the interface, click the "File" tab, then click "Options". On the General tab, near the middle of the page, you will see two drop-down lists. One allows you to change the background. The other allows you to change the overall theme for the Office app.

If you do not like the font colors, shape colors, etc. for an open document, click on the "Design" tab. On the left hand side you will see a document formatting group. Take a look at the Themes dropdown. That has a lot of options. You can also create your own theme.

Please let me know if this answers your question. If not, I can move your post to another forum.

  • You are perfectly right in stating HOW the colour scheme may be changed. And the options available WILL change the colour scheme, unfortunately the available colour scheme options will only make the appearance WORSE. And it is not just my opinion. Since its release in 2012, there are thousands of users deeply disappointed  with Office 2013. We should be fully refunded.

Shame on you MSoft. I've blown away my 2007 version during the 2013 installation, but I'm hoping that a rollback will trash Office 2013 and get me back to my perfectly good and visually appealing Office 2007.

  • Hi,

Microsoft is well aware of the eye strain caused by the bright white/gray colors in Office 2013 based on user feedback. I suspect they will include more options with a future service pack or future version of Office.

Here is an interesting string of comments with a few suggestions to make it more bearable.

There is nothing wrong with Office 2007 and no one will be insulted if you use it.

Expect changes to the color scheme. Microsoft employees use Office 2013 as well and also probably experience eye strain. They can be their own worst critics.

    Good luck!

  • If Microsoft is well aware of the eye strain problem, why haven't they, in nearly two years now, actually DONE anything about it?!?!?  I like the new features but this is horrible.  What is Microsoft's major malfunction?  It's so bad I think I might go back to Open Office just to save my eyes!  :-(((
