CRM 2011 Tracking Token Woes RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dynamics CRM2011 Rollup 16.

I'm having some difficulties with the CRM tracking tokens, and the more I try to understand what it's doing the more puzzled I've become. I've tried searching for information on the mechanics of this feature but all hits I've found just talk about the stuff in the setup guide.

What I'm trying to locate and understand is:

Where is the *next* tracking token number stored? I know the sequence is per user but is this kept in SQL Server or on the client PC?

I have evidence that the same tracking token has been given to two different e-mails generated by the same user. How is this possible? Which comes back to my original question of trying to understand how and where the tracking tokens are applied to the e-mail subject line.

If a user has a desktop computer (primary synch client) and remotes into a terminal server when away from the office does this affect the generation of unique tracking tokens?

Any information about how these numbers are generated gratefully received.
    Cheers

    Steve
