Error Code 38 when connecting both USB flash drive and my Ipod.

Question
-
I have finally set up a nice music library and tried to connect my Ipod; I received an error with a code of 38, "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)
The driver could not be loaded because a previous version of the driver is still in memory."I received the same message when I attached my HP flash drive.
I would sincerely appreciate some help ASAP as I am leaving town in a few days and wanted to take my music with me.
I have a new Dell Inspiron 17R that was originally equipped with Windows 8.1 but I went ahead with the Windows 10 upgrade two days ago.
Thank you!

Completely remove the current driver and install the newest driver available. For instructions on how to do that Read all about updating drivers by my partner JMH3143 here http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki/windows_other-hardware/updating-a-driver/a5e6345e-af9b-4099-bef0-8d22254aa1c1?tm=1436753520149
