SOLVED Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Setup update server_i386.msp is unable to install RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Dear Microsoft & Community

    I did successful development server installation (Windows Server 2008 Standard x86, SQL Server 2008 Standard for Small Business and CRM 4.0).

    But this week same procedure was not working with Windows Small Business Server 2008 Additional server  (Windows Server 2008 Standard x86, SQL Server 2008 Standard for Small Business and CRM 4.0).

    CRM Setup couldn't complete setup updates with download. Neither config.xlm patch was not successful.
    Server_i386.msp was today downloaded from:

    Un fortenately my succesful installation log file seems to be deleted during reboot :( That would have shown the time change and unpacking of MSP file) If you have one such log could you please posti it here, thx?

    Contents of

    config-updates.xml.txt is:
    <CRMSetup>
     <Server>
      <Patch update="true">c:\temp\Updates\Server_i386.msp</Patch>
     </Server>
    </CRMSetup>
    Root cause of failure is Digital Coding Signature of server_i386.msp package has expired 22nd January 2010 (22.01.2010)! You can check Digital Signature details from server_i386.msp - R-Click - Properties - Digital Signatures - Details
    There you will see text "This digital signature is not valid."

    If you change time back to eg. January 20th 2010 for time server beeing installed setup installs successful with updates. Time shift is needed only for time of setup to patch itself. Before launching CRM install procedure time must be restored (to get it syncronized with SBS Primary Server Active Directory). If time is not restored Active Directory operations may fail.

    Am I wrong if I say "This mean that ALL CRM 4.0 installations will fail if one presses "Download updates" (and if you don't click you'll have to fix 5~9 errors before you can launch installation)." I think that there would be urgent need for new server_*.msp files!

    Have a good CRM 4.0 installations
