Windows Update has messed up my laptop RRS feed

  • Question

  • I downloaded the latest Vista Windows Updates, only to find that at the end I was informed that my copy of Windows Vista was not valid!  I KNOW it is valid. I have had the laptop  2 years, and clicked on all the Windows Validation updates in the past, and have never had any problem.  I went to do a system restore, and Lo and Behold that had disappeared also. Please can someone help

P.S. I have tried to re-enter the product key............... no luck

  • Hello, woofly

For us to be able to see what is going on, please download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool at the following link: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012.
Run the Tool, click "Continue" then click the "Copy" button and Paste the back to us.

Please also post the error code you get (if any) when you validate by clicking "Validate Windows" here: www.microsoft.com/genuine. The error code will be gray and in brackets at the end of the message on the page that says validation failed.  (It'll look something like this:  [0xC004C000]).
