Microsoft Office XP Professional with FrontPage RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
I was given a copy of MS Office 2000 by my employer to install on my home computer back in 2000 to do work at home.
Now in 2009 it has been declared non-genuine for the following reason :

Microsoft Office XP Professional with FrontPage

Problem: The product key used to install Office has been identified by Microsoft as a key that was issued to a large, corporate customer. This key is reserved for the exclusive use of this customer, and cannot be used to install other copies of Microsoft Office.

Solution: If your computer belongs to a large organization and you believe you are receiving this message in error, talk to your system administrator.

If your computer does not belong to a large organization, you may be a victim of software counterfeiting. In that case, your best options to acquire genuine Microsoft Office are outlined on this Office Genuine Advantage web page. You can also contact the business where you purchased Office, purchased your computer with Office pre-installed, or had your computer serviced. Ask for their help to ensure that the copy of Office you purchased or received with the purchase of a new computer is genuine.

    To uninstall Office products:

    1. Quit all Office programs.
    2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
    3. Double-click Add or Remove Programs. (For Windows Vista, under Programs, click Uninstall a Program.)
    4. In the Currently installed programs list, locate and select products that did not pass validation
    5. Click Remove to remove the product(s) that you want to uninstall from the computer. (For Windows Vista, right-click product(s) and choose Uninstall.)

I understand this so I went out and bought MS Office 2007, uninstalled 2000 and installed 2007 on my computer.
I even attempted to uninstall MS Office Pro with Frontpage through Control Panel but was unable to uninstall it. The computer refused too.
My Windows is genuine and now so is my Office ( even though I consider the other one was too ).
My problem is I still have the star down in the corner telling me my office is not genuine.  I have done the Validate Office numerous times since installing the new Office but it still comes up with the above.
How can I get rid of the star and have my Office validated as genuine.

  • Hello Col0611,

Thank you for visiting the Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) program forum. I understand the inconvenience you are currently experiencing. We have seen numerous issues from customers who were provided a Volume License Key (VLK) on their computer that has either been blocked by Microsoft or generated by a fake product key code generator. WGA currently provides checks for these types of product keys and prompts the user to notify them of this situation. More invalid product keys are being identified daily and WGA is constantly refreshing its database with these newly identified product keys and immediately blocks them. Below I have extracted a portion of the MGA results to share.

    OGA Data-->
Office Status: 114 Blocked VLK 2
Microsoft Office XP Professional with FrontPage - 114 Blocked VLK 2
Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 - 100 Genuine
    OGA Version: Registered, 1.7.111.0
    Signed By: Microsoft
    Office Diagnostics: 025D1FF3-230-1

As a rule, VL editions should not be sold to individual consumers. Businesses, schools and governments normally use VL editions for flexibility in installing many computers.  Also, Volume Licenses for Windows XP is Upgrade licenses ONLY and cannot be used as the original or base license for a new computer.  Col0611 if this is a corporate system please ask your systems administrator to logon to the eOpen site (

https://eopen.microsoft.com/EN/default.asp) and confirm what your company’s assigned VLK. If this computer is not a corporate system please uninstall Microsoft Office XP Professional with FrontPage. Next please restart your computer and try to Validate once again.

You have a couple options available. First you should have been given the option to "Get Genuine" when you failed OGA validation. Here you may purchase an OGA Kit from Microsoft and become genuine. Next you can take the software back where you made the original purchase and either request a genuine copy of Office or return your monies. Next I would recommend for you to file a piracy report by following the directions @
http://www.microsoft.com/piracy. Please locate "Reporting Piracy" in the upper left corner.

    Thank you,

    Stephen

  • Hi Stephen,
As I stated I have no problem understanding that maybe my company shouldnt have given me Office 2000 to put on my computer and I have deleted that and purchased Office 2007 which is what the OGA site told me to do.
However, my Windows XP is genuine and passes the validation each time I do it so I assume my XP is fine but the "Validate Office" keeps on bringing up that it is still not genuine and takes me to the result as I originally posted.
Is there a difference between the program Microsoft Office XP Professional with FrontPage and my operating system Windows XP Pro ?
I have tried to delete Microsoft Office XP Professional with FrontPage through the "Control Panel" but it will not uninstall. What other ways can you suggest to uninstall it.
    Thanks
    Col

  • Good Morning Col,

I have taken a snapshot of your MGA Diagnostic results:

    OGA Data-->
Office Status: 114 Blocked VLK 2
Microsoft Office XP Professional with FrontPage - 114 Blocked VLK 2
Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 - 100 Genuine
    OGA Version: Registered, 1.7.111.0
    Signed By: Microsoft
    Office Diagnostics: 025D1FF3-230-1

It appears that Office XP Professional with FrontPage is still physically installed on your computer. Please try again to uninstall it and restart your computer. This should allow you to use Office Home and Student 2007 fine. Please let us know if you are still experiencing any problems.

    Thank you

    Stephen

  • Hi Stephen,
As I keep saying IT WILL NOT UNINSTALL, I have tried numerous times but it says:

"The path Microsoft Office XP Professional with FrontPage cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again or try to find the installation package PROPLUS.MSI in a folder with which you can install the product Microsoft Office XP Professional with FrontPage".

I then click ok and nothing happens.
I CANT GET THE PROGRAM OFF MY COMPUTER ! THIS IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN TELLING YOU IN ALL MY POSTS.

Please, the questions I need answered are :
    1. How else can I uninstall it ?
    2. Why, now that I have put Office 2007 on my computer is it still failing "Validate Office" ?
    3. If I need to download PROPLUS.MSI where can I get it from ?
    Thanks
    Col

  • Col,

The following article will allow you to download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. Use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and uninstall all Microsoft Office programs 2003 and below (NOT OFFICE 2007) on your computer. Then reinstall Microsoft Office using the genuine Office installation media  and product key. See below:

KB290301 – Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

The following link provides information for the Windows Product Key Update Tool instructions.

    http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/selfhelp/PkuInstructions.aspx?displayLang=enUtility

If you are still having issues, download the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool.  Then click the Run button. Then click the Run button again. Then click the Continue button to perform the diagnostic. The Windows tab should show, click the Copy button to paste your report to the clipboard.  Then paste the report into a New Post on this Forum by adding a post in it and pressing Ctrl V (to paste the text). Clicking the OK button will clear the Diagnostic window. Here is the download link:

     http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

We can take a look at your diagnostic report and try to offer you some suggestions which may or may not resolve your issue. Please let me know if this resolves your problem. If it doesn't resolve the problem you may need to reinstall Windows.
