Setting up a vitualized development environment RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just moved to Windows 7 (Ultimate 64-bit) from XP on a new workstation.  I'm hoping to set up a virtualized development and test environment and need to find forum(s) where I can get the following info:

I want to know what virtualization software I can/should use for 64-bit guests (Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008).

I also need info about properly cloning test machines in terms of activation and licensing.  (If I set up dev/test servers and workstations, from my MSDN subscription downloads can I activate a single Windows 7 install in a virtual machine, then clone that virtual machine and run several instances of that clone at the same time if I change the machine name, or do I have to separately activate each virtual machine I want to be running concurrently)?

    Thanks.
